MALAYSIAN PARALYMPIC COUNCIL’s
20TH ANNIVERSARY
Kuala
Lumpur, 18th May 2009 - The Malaysian Paralympic Council or
MPC is celebrating its 20th Anniversary today since its inception
in 1989. A few of its milestones include hosting and organizing
the first ever ASEAN PARA GAMES in 2001 and championing the
KL’06 FESPIC GAMES in 2006.
Today
marks 20 years of Aspiration, Determination and Achievement
for the Malaysian Paralympic Council. Among the activities
lined up in lieu of this momentous occasion are;

Paralimpik” or Paralympic Night to tribute outstanding
achievements and support to those who have stood by the
Malaysian Paralympic Council all these years. |
The
Riarobik session was held at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa yesterday
(17th of May, Sunday) and saw a crowd of over 500 hundred
people. Paralympic athletes, members and affiliates of the
Malaysian Paralympic Council and members of the public were
among the few who came to show their support. YBhg. Dato’
Ahmad Fuad, Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, expressed feelings of happiness
and added that more needs to be done for the Paralympic community
especially for the athletes. The event was complimented by
support from DBKL, JKMM, NESTLE SDN BHD and F&N COCA COLA
(M) BERHAD.
The
RiaRobik session, which Dato’ Zainal Abu Zarin, the
fearless leader of the Malaysian Paralympic Council had said
with regard to, represented the physical aspect of this celebration.
The intellectual aspect was represented by the Seminar on
the National Paralympic Movement conducted this morning by
the Malaysian Paralympic Council. Among the issues and topic
discussed were, “Education, Training & Human Resource
Development”, “Internationalization” and
finally the “National Paralympic Movement” itself.
The
20th Anniversary celebration drew to an end today with the
“Paralympic Night” held at the Olympic Council
Malaysia Hall. The objective of the night was to honor and
congratulate outstanding achievement in support and cooperation
to those whom have stood by the Malaysian Paralympic Council
all these years.

organization, with hopes, dreams and a mission to encourage
disabled athletes to reach for their dreams by competing in
