KUALA LUMPUR: Fate played a huge role in Mohd Salam Sidik's transformation to a world-class archer.
He became paralysed from the waist down after an accident nearly 20 years ago. He was only nine then.
The physical disability caused Salam to drop out of school after Year Six.
“I could not continue schooling as they did not have the facilities to meet my needs,” he said during an interview at the National Sports Council (NSC) Taman Keramat Sports Complex here recently.

Sweet victory: Salam holding up the bronze medal he won at the World Archery Para Championships in Italy.
